About Karen
Chef Karen Popeo brings her professional, calm and warm demeanor to her cooking and to your home, allowing you to relax, enjoy your guests or your family, and leave all the preparations, service and clean up to her.
Karen has been bringing people together with food for as long as she can remember. From learning her grandparents Italian specialties and preparing the holiday meals and gatherings, to making “Sunday Urban Family Dinners” for neighborhood friends in her 20s and early 30s, Karen’s love of cooking, and most importantly, creating warm, fun, relaxing experiences for loved ones only grew.
After years working in politics in Washington DC, and sales and consulting, Karen finally pursued her dream of a culinary career and received her Professional Chef’s degree from The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in 2015. While in school, Karen worked on the line at Cambridge’s renowned Alden & Harlow under Chef Michael Scelfo. Upon graduation, Karen cultivated a deeper knowledge of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, building on her love and strong basis in French and Italian fare. She spent a year at Sofra Bakery & Cafe (owned by the incomparable Chef Ana Sortun and Pastry Chef Maura Kilpatrick) as a catering manager, reaffirming her love of working with personal clients, and being inspired everyday by amazing chef leaders, devoted, customer-driven staff, and bold, beautiful products and ingredients.
Her years of bringing great groups together over food and learning from the best led to fulfilling her dream of owning a business which brings together wonderful groups, lightens the burdens of hectic family life, teaches the curious, aspiring cooks, and fosters community through sharing our food and sharing our stories.
